Herd Mothers

We have invested a lot of time, treasure and diesel fuel into assembling the best herd of does we can find, both purebred and NZ.  We hope you can take a few minutes and meet  some of our herd mothers.  You never know, one of them might be the mother or grandmother of your next herd sire or top doe, if they aren't already. Click on the thumbnails to view larger pictures.

Lightenin's Lady R06 is a NZ daughter of Sunboy Waco (Lightenin), who was by Generator, an Miss Moneybags, who was the most productive and famous daughter of Betula Hills Moneymaker.  This is the classic Generator X Moneymaker cross and this doe is about as close to the original genetics as you will find.

Purdy (5017) is a NZ daughter of Tay 007 by Tasman Zorro and W 65 who was also by Tasman Zorro.  She is shown here with here twins by Iron Horse who is also a grandson of Tasman Zorro.  This cross is apparently a good one as her 2008 buck kid by Iron Horse finished 4th at the Oklahoma Forage Based Buck Test for his new owner.

TAY W45 is a NZ daughter of Loverboy and Eastex Jolene.  In 2008 one of her kids was the highest indexing weanling on the farm.  She is bred to Iron Horse this year and looks like she could have quintuplets!  I hope to be posting pictures of her Iron Horse kids soon! Update!  In 2009 she had triplets that had a combined weaning weight of over160 lbs.

Boulder Hills 43 is a NZ daughter of TAY Onyx and Eastex Emily who was by James Bond.  She is the biggest doe on the farm and thinks she is the farm manager.  She has all the frame size and strong attitude associated with Onyx.  Although not especially a meaty doe, her 2008 daughter is the biggest, thickest, and fastest growing kid in our doeling group.  She is bred for 2010 to Iron Horse in hopes of concentrating the frame and size of the Onyx line before taking her daughters back to one of the Moneymaker bucks.

Lightenin's Lady P21 is another of our NZ daughters of Sunboy Waco 139 (Lightenin) who was by Generator.  Her mother is the great doe Victoria Farms Puddin.  This makes her a full brother to Lightenin's Titan, who set the record for gain at the Georgia Buck test, and sired Titan's Hammer who broke it and still holds the record.

TAY W 59 is a NZ daughter of Loverboy.  Her mother was a Caston Creek doe by Generator.  Once again we have the classic cross, as she is a granddaughter of Moneymaker on one side and a granddaughter of Generator on the other side.  We think this makes her the perfect candidate for an outcross to Tasman Zorro, and she is bred for 2009 to Iron Horse to accomplish just that.

Lady Blackbird is a NZ daughter of TAY 007 by Tasman Zorro and her mother is a daughter of Terminator. We thought her 2008 daughter good enough to possible top the AKGA Showcase sale until she died in an accident shortly before the sale.  She is bred for 2010 to Iron Horse, which should produce big, colorful, double bred Tasman Zorro kids.  She has been in our herd for several years and, like Iron Horse, has never needed to be wormed.

Y27 is a NZ daughter of Dynamite, who was a son of Lightenin and Miss Moneybags.  Her mother was a TNT doe by Klondike.  She is a big frame, good milking doe who passes both her size and her blue color on to her kids.  She is bred to Iron Horse for 2009.

Wynena is a NZ yearling doe from the last crop of Nick and her mother is W27 pictured above.  She is a full sister to Pistol Pete, who sired some outstanding kids for us before moving to his new home at Deep South Kikos.  She is bred for 2009 to Iron Horse.

Red Knickers is a yearling doe from Nicks last crop.  Her mother is 5C Suzette making Knickers a full sister to our herd sire Caesar.  Suzette is now 13 years old, still has a good bag, and is still doing a great job of raising kids.  If longevity in the herd is important to you, you have to love this family.  Red Knickers is bred for 2009 to Iron Horse.

Dancer and Bonnie are NZ flushmate sisters along with two other yearlings not pictured who are sired by Blue's Son and out of W27 pictured above.  We think they are the example of what yearlings should be.  All are large, very deep bodied, and either blue or spotted in color.

TAY W48 is a NZ daughter of Goldmine I and Sunkist 109 who was by Generator.  She is a very heavy doe who raises fast growing kids.  For 2009 she was used as an embryo donor bred to Loverboy and then bred live cover to Iron Horse.  We are partial to Iron Horse but for meatiness, her Loverboy kids ought to be something to see.

Catrina's Best is a NZ doe by Nick and the Bill and Brenda Moore doe Catrina who was by Loverboy.  Catrina was one of the does selected to be exported to the middle east.  Catrina's best is an exceptional kid raiser, putting everything she has into milk production and mothering.

BBM Cinnamon and BBM Ivory are twin PB does by Zorro II.  Their mother was Tasman Black Beauty.  These two does have been consistent producers of top quality herdsires and does.  They are shown with their 2009 kids by Iron Horse.  Cinnamon's 2009 doeling was the highest selling female at the 2009 Cream of the Crop Sale, outselling mature does and NZ does and doelings.

ECR 35 is a PB daughter of Goldmine II and a Goats unlimited doe by Goatex 62/89.  She has more kids currently doing service as herdsires around the country than any other purebred doe in our herd.  Her kids are big, colorful, and precocious. She is bred to Iron Horse for 2009.  Note.  ECR 35 is the mother of the 2009 Oklahoma Forage Buck Test Grand Champion Buck!!

Waffles is a NZ yearling doe by Nick and out of Y 58, who was by TNT Cody.  Y58's mother, Anna Marie is a sister to the top performing doe in the Tennessee State University doe research herd.  Waffles is big and very deep bodied.

These does are only a sample of our herd of over 100 purebred and New Zealand mothers.  They are not for sale, but their 2010 kids will be.  Expect them to be offered at the AKGA Showcase Sale, The Cream of the Crop Sale, and at the farm.  Several of their sons will be competing at various buck tests around the country.  Last year the best of the crop was spoken for early, while still on the does.  If you see something here that interests you, give us a call and we will be glad to visit with you about your needs and how we can put our genetics to work to help you achieve your goals.  We also have young does bred to our herdsires and families of does with their kids for sale most of the time.
